Riviera Travel has revealed the names of the two travel agents who will christen the MS Emily Brontë and the MS Thomas Hardy.

Christina Astill from Go Cruise will be the godmother of the Emily Brontë while Tracey Scales from Travel Counsellors will be the Godmother of the MS Thomas Hardy.

The ships will join a fleet which includes the Jane Austen, pictured above.

The agents will christen the ships at a ceremony in Amsterdam later this month joined by senior management, VIPs and press.

“When I called Christina and Tracey to break the news they were both very excited. We decided it would be a refreshing change for two travel agents rather than celebrities to have the honour of becoming Godmothers to our new ships, in a competition that all ladies who entered had an equal chance of winning. After all, agents have played a huge part in our significant growth in European river cruising over the last few years,” said Joseph Grimley, head of agency sales.

“It promises to be a fantastic day where guests will have a unique preview of our new flag-ship river cruise product, while enjoying a champagne reception, sumptuous lunch on-board, and of course the all-important christening ceremony itself.”
