2024 opening day bookings surge for Oceania Cruises

One third of bookings came from first-time guests

The launch of Oceania Cruises’ 2024 Collection on May 4 has ranked among the best single-day booking periods in the company’s history.

More than 350 voyages ranging from seven to 82 days in duration and spanning from October 2023 to December 2024 went on sale. One third of bookings were from first-time guests, and a third of the total transactions included reservations for at least two voyages, with grand voyages performing well.

The most in-demand itinerary was the 35-day circumnavigation of Australia departing December 21, 2023, where more than 60% of capacity was filled in one day. Asia was the most popular destination, and the line reported that the 2023-2024 South America sailings and 2024 Northern Europe itineraries on the 1,238-guest Marina “performed exceptionally well”. Africa, the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand also showed strong demand.

All were new cash bookings, rather than from customers using future cruise credits issued during the pandemic.

President and CEO Howard Sherman said: “The 2024 Collection launch illustrates tremendous and continued strong demand for cruising in addition to highlighting the increased trend in planning travel farther out, both for past guests and new-to-brand guests.”

In March the line’s 2024 Around the World in 180 Days voyage sold out within 30 minutes of opening, with the majority of bookings made through agents.
