Crystal cuts steel on river yachts
Crystal Cruises has completed the steel cutting ceremony for its four purpose-built river yachts, which will launch in summer 2017.
The ships – Crystal Debussy, Crystal Ravel, Crystal Mahler and Crystal Bach – will join Crystal Mozart, which is due to launch this July having undergone an extensive refit to bring it into the fleet.
Edie Rodriguez, president and CEO of Crystal, along with Genting Hong Kong (GHK) Chairman and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay and Lloyd Werft Shipyard Managing Director Rüdiger Palletin were present for the ceremony. Rodriguez herself pressed the button to begin the river yachts’ construction.
“This seemingly simple act was an absolute thrill, as it represents a very important milestone in the growth of the Crystal brand,” said Rodriguez. “It was my honour to stand with the leaders of our wonderful parent company and the acclaimed Lloyd Werft Shipyard, and to enjoy the support of the local community leaders, as we continue the process of ushering in the new era of Crystal with Crystal River Cruises.”
The company’s river fleet will include:
- 250 square-foot guest suites with walk-in wardrobes, American king size beds and bathrooms with double vanities
- Two 500 square-foot Penthouse Suites
- Spacious public areas, including Palm Court with dance floor and glass domed roof and a well-appointed fitnesscentre and spa
