APT donates Capella to accommodate Ukrainian refugees

The Travelmarvel Contemporary River Ship is providing a temporary home in the Netherlands for those fleeing the war

APT has donated Capella, one of its three new Travelmarvel Contemporary River Ships, to provide temporary accommodation for Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands, as part of the operator’s ongoing activity to help with the humanitarian crisis.

APT has given exclusive use of the 135m ship to the Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht Municipality until January 30, 2023 to help support relief efforts. For the next six months the river cruise vessel will be permanently docked in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, and Capella’s 91 cabins will provide safe residence for up to 182 Ukrainians who have fled the conflict with Russia. Capella’s spacious staterooms and multiple communal and dining areas will make life on board as comfortable as possible for its new guests.

APT has also been supporting Ukrainian victims through fundraising efforts such as their recent European River Cruise Fundraisers, which saw staff across the APT and Travelmarvel brands generating £12,000 to support victims of the conflict.

The line has also donated more than £11,500 to the World Food Program and Global Development Group’s Ukraine appeal and is working in partnership with the German non-profit Friedensdorf International, or Peace Village International, which provides medical attention to children living in war zones.
