Celestyal Cruises appoints former Carnival boss as non-executive chairman

David Noyes brings industry experience from his roles heading up P&O Cruises and Cunard

Greek cruise operator Celestyal Cruises has appointed David Noyes as non-executive chairman. Noyes brings more than 35 years of industry experience, having formerly been the CEO and executive vice president of operations for Carnival UK brands P&O Cruises and Cunard.

As non-executive chairman, Noyes will chair the Celestyal Cruises board of directors, providing guidance and support to the executive team, led by CEO Chris Theophilides.

A spokesperson said his appointment follows a “significant investment” by private investment company Searchlight Capital Partners, adding that it further reinforced Celestyal Cruises’ growth strategy.

Noyes brings board experience from his current roles as the non-executive chairman of sporting goods manufacturer Grays of Cambridge International and non-executive director of Network Rail and London Luton Airport Operations Ltd. He also sits on the corporate advisory board of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Commenting on his appointment, Noyes said: “I am delighted to be joining Celestyal Cruises and look forward to working closely with Chris and his team as we welcome our guests this spring. This is an exciting time for me and the team of Celestyal, which is supported by Searchlight Capital in order to consolidate the brand’s position as the leading cruise operator in the Eastern Mediterranean, and offer both our unique and award-winning service and personalised experiences to our guests around the world.”

Chris Theophilides, CEO of Celestyal Cruises, added: “We are delighted that David has joined the board of directors as non-executive chairman and I am sure his experience and in-depth knowledge of travel and cruises in particular will be very valuable as we work toward our strategic goals of growth and fleet renewal.”
