Clia confirms focus for Cruise Week
Clia UK & Ireland has revealed the dates for this year’s Cruise Week, which will focus on attracting more new to cruise customers.
Andy Harmer, the association’s director, said that social media was key to getting the industry’s message across. Last year the body’s Cruise Week directive was around the Cruise Week Selfie Board and the #LoveCruise hashtag, ideas that Harmer claims were partly responsible for an upsurge in interest around the sector.
“We had a phenomenal response to our social media activity last year,” Harmer explained. “Reaching more than seven million Twitter users alone.
“I believe that 2015 can be bigger and better, particularly as we have new ships launching dedicated to the UK market which will further stimulate interest in cruising.”
He added: “As an industry, we need to maximise every opportunity to highlight the diversity of cruise holidays and Clia Cruise Week provides a tremendous platform for travel agent members to talk about cruise, particularly to those who are yet to cruise, whilst maximising their sales.”
This year’s Cruise Week will take place between 19-27 September with a number of line’s expected to introduce special offers and improved incentives for travel agents.
