MSC raises shore excursion commission to 15%

MSC Cruises has raised the level of shore excursion commission to 15%, in a further update to its policy on payments to travel agents.

The line, which earlier in the month announced that commission on shore excursions would be going up to individually set levels, will now offer a flat shore excursion commission of 15% to all agents.

Speaking at the Advantage Cruise Champions Conference in London, MSC Cruises executive director Giles Hawke said: “Shore excursions are very often an integral part of the whole cruise experience for customers, so it makes sense for agents to book everything at once.

“When agents book an MSC excursion we, and they, can be assured the trip will be of a high standard.”

He added that: “Agents are our greatest asset and we want them to know that.”

The scheme will be ran on an initial six month trial and made permanent if the trade showed enough support.
