MSC reveals humanoid bartender

'Rob' will on board MSC Virtuosa's MSC Starship club

MSC Cruises has revealed a humanoid robotic bartender called Rob will on board MSC Virtuosa when it launches in April this year.

The new addition, a first at sea, will tend the bar at the futuristic MSC Starship Club.

The new venue – an integrated bar and entertainment experience, is inspired by MSC Cruises vision of a future spaceship, MSC Starliner One. The space will include 3D holograms, an immersive digital art wall and 12-seat infinity digital interactive table. Rob will be on hand to mix alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails and personalised drinks. He will also be able to interact with guests in eight different languages (English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese).

MSC Virtuosa is the line’s newest flagship and will come into service in April this year.  After completing a series of three, four and five-night cruises in the Mediterranean, MSC Virtuosa will be deployed to Northern Europe in summer 2021 with a range of itineraries to the Norwegian fjords and Baltic capital cities.
