Riviera Travel offers new Rhône land tour extension
The river cruise and tour operator has curated a selection of experiences for the extension
Riviera Travel has launched a land tour extension on its 2022 Rhône river cruise itinerary, taking in some of the region’s highlights.
The optional three-night Lake Geneva and Golden Pass Extension is available on seven sailings, from July to October. Guests will stay in a Lake Geneva hotel, and can take a guided tour of the medieval Chillon Castle and journey on the Golden Pass train. They can also enjoy a 3,000-metre cable car ride to Glacier 3000, which boasts views of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Matterhorn, a cruise with lunch on Lake Geneva and visits to Lausanne and the French alpine town of Annecy.
The Rhône river cruise itself includes seven visits and tours, including options in Avignon, Lyon, Arles and Vienne. There is wine tasting in Beaune and excursions to the Ardèche Gorges, Popes’ Palace and the Pont du Gard.
Prices for the cruise start from £1,569pp, with the extension option starting from £829pp, including the cruise and hotel stays, and flights and transfers.
The cruises have an expert cruise director and concierge throughout, and complimentary on board tea and coffee. The extensions have an accompanying tour manager at all times, with all hotels offering breakfast.
Katja Hildebrandt, Riviera Travel head of product river and ocean cruise, said: “Our new Rhône extension promises stunning snow-covered journeys and charming old towns steeped in history, all set against a picture-perfect Alpine scenery backdrop. And we promise guests they will do it in style: from sitting back on the Golden Pass train and watching the fairytale landscape go by, to climbing all the way to the clouds of the spectacular Vaudois Alps via cable car.”
In December Riviera Travel announced that Robin Shaw had been made its permanent chief operating officer.
