ROL Cruise boss revealed as Emerald Azzurra godmother

Sarah Wikevand will christen the ship in Venice on May 28

ROL Cruise managing director Sarah Wikevand has been named as the godmother of Emerald Cruise’s Emerald Azzurra, which will be the line’s first ocean-going superyacht. It is currently sailing in the Mediterranean, and Wikevand will perform the christening ceremony on May 28 in Venice.

Emerald Azzurra carries 100 guests and officially entered service in March. It will continue sailing the Mediterranean and Adriatic coastlines until December, when it will be repositioned to the Red Sea. The line has joined forces with Qatar Tourism to launch a new sailing from Doha in January 2023.

David Winterton, Emerald Cruises’ global director of brand and marketing said: “We cannot wait to welcome Sarah on board our stunning Emerald Azzurra in Venice, as this fantastic luxury yacht joins our growing Emerald Cruises fleet. We value our trade partners highly and we’re thrilled that Sarah has graciously accepted to be godmother to Emerald Azzurra. Sarah is set to become the third UK travel agent godmother in our Emerald Cruises fleet and we’re honoured to continue this tradition showing our dedication to our partners.”

Wikevand said she was “honoured” to have been chosen as Emerald Azzurra’s godmother. “I have been lucky enough to work alongside the fantastic Emerald Cruises team for many years now and I am humbled to play a part in such a monumental moment for the cruise line.”

Emerald Azzurra will be joined by sister yacht Emerald Sakara in February 2023, with itineraries to the Seychelles, Black Sea and Middle East, which are on sale now.
