Saga’s Spirit of Discovery sails into Dover

Spirit of Discovery, the first new-build cruise ship in Saga’s history, has sailed into its homeport of Dover for the first time.

The 999-passenger ship will be officially launched by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall next week.

Speaking as the ship pulled into Dover, Robin Shaw, CEO of Saga Travel said: “I feel a huge sense of elation that she’s here.

“So many people have worked for days, months and years on this project. I’m really proud of the team for making this happen.”

Iain Powell, head of trade sales for Saga Travel, added: “This is a very exciting day for the Saga Cruises team and it was amazing to see her sail in past the White Cliffs of Dover this morning.

“We’re now looking forward to 700 trade partners joining us on Tuesday.”
