Scenic Group appoints new managing director

Scenic Group has appointed Richard Twynam as its new managing director UK and Ireland.

Twynam – who will officially take up his new position on October 31 – will oversee both the Scenic and Emerald Cruises brands.

He joins from the healthcare business Prenetics, where he is currently managing director cruise and travel testing. He is well known in the UK travel industry and has a lot of experience in the cruise sector, most notably as UK managing director at Azamara.

He said: “I am truly thrilled to be joining the Scenic Group family and to have the opportunity to lead the UK team in Manchester.

“Both the Scenic and Emerald Cruises are market leaders and the future growth plans are very exciting. I can’t wait to get started.”

Anna Wolfsteiner, Scenic Group’s chief sales and marketing officer, said the appointment of Twynam was a major coup for the company that would further strengthen its presence in the trade.

“Richard is a real heavy hitter in the business, who has experience running travel brands with a reputation for great customer service and unique customer propositions. We’re delighted he is joining us to help spearhead our growth plan.”
