Seabourn cancels cruises into 2021 including world cruise

Cancellations include world cruise

Seabourn, Carnival’s ultra-luxury cruise line, has cancelled cruises on Seabourn Sojourn, Ovation and Encore, with some of the affected sailings falling in 2021.

Encore will not sail until November 25, Ovation until December 20 and Sojourn until May 24, 2021, due to the cancellation of the company’s world cruise.

Josh Leibowitz, the president of Seabourn, said: “We’ve been saying for some time that our resumption of service will come gradually, and this action reflects that discussion.

“The health, safety and well-being of our guests, crew and the people in destinations we visit remain a top priority.” He added: “Like many who watch the travel industry, we are encouraged by the signs emerging around the world that point to travel’s progress toward return.

“When our expert science and medical advisors and our destinations support the ability to resume travel on Seabourn, we’ll be ready.”

Passengers with bookings on other sailings will receive a 125 percent future cruise credit or a refund while those booked on the World Cruise will automatically be booked on the 2022 sailing.

This week, another Carnival brand, P&O Cruises, cancelled all cruises up to November 12, plus two longer itineraries leaving in 2021 in what the line says is an “acknowledgement of Foreign & Commonwealth Office guidance”.

In the company’s latest video P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “It is clear that whilst the guidance is in place it is not advisable for us to resume operations.

“As well as cancelling all cruises up until November 12, 2020 we will, sadly, also be cancelling Aurora’s Caribbean & South America Adventure and Arcadia’s World Cruise. Given long-term planning, combined with the complexity and length of these long-haul itineraries and evolving border restrictions, we need to ensure that we adhere to the guidance as it stands. I know that these January cruises, in particular, are holidays of a lifetime and we are so sorry for the disappointment that these cancellations will cause.”
