Seven Carnival ships meet for line’s 50th anniversary

The celebration was one of several to mark the line's milestone birthday

Seven Carnival Cruise Line ships held simultaneous parties when they met up at sea this week to celebrate the line’s 50th anniversary.

Joining the birthday festivities were Carnival Breeze, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Glory, Mardi Gras, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Vista. The vessels joined forces near Cozumel, with parties taking place on each lido deck.

Each ship’s cruise director and the aptly named “fun squads” taught and led guests in a choreographed Tik Tok dance inspired by Carnival’s 50th birthday.

Carnival started its operations with one ship from PortMiami in 1972. Today it has a 24-strong fleet  carrying more than six million guests annually, employing more than 40,000 team members from 120 nationalities.

Carnival has hosted several other ship meet ups during March as part of 17 themed “Sailabrations” sailings.

Guests have enjoyed Carnival-themed puzzles, 1972 fun-fact trivia with commemorative 50th birthday medallions, a Build-A-Bear birthday party and a Rollin’ In Riches casino event.

All of Carnival’s fleet will be back in service by this summer. Agents keen to learn more about the line are invited to register for the line’s first Seminar at Sea in Europe in May.
