The Cruise Line restructures for growth

The luxury agents have promoted David Smith to managing director, while founder Robin Maclear step backs from the role to become chairman

The Cruise Line has promoted David Smith to managing director.

The move is part of a management restructure at the luxury agents – also the GSA for Windstar Cruises and Elixir Cruises and PSA for Swan Hellenic – which sees founder Robin Maclear step back from the role to become chairman.

Ian Buckeridge rejoins the company as commercial director, while Louisa Maynard has been promoted to reservations team leader.

Maclear said: “David joined the company in 2008 and I am confident he has the drive and experience to take the company to new heights.

“Ian was integral in setting up The Cruise Line, working alongside me from 1992 to 2002.”

“Having safely steered the company through the global pandemic, now is the time for The Cruise Line to strengthen the team and focus on growth as we look to 2023 and beyond.

“This month marks our 30th anniversary and I am very grateful to all the excellent people I have worked with over the years. It’s certainly been fun, and I am proud of what we have achieved.

“We are now investing heavily, and the company is set for growth. I have great confidence in the new board and the team I have in place.”
