Trade get first taste of Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas
Biggest ship in the world arrives in Europe
Royal Caribbean International’s Wonder of the Seas arrived in Barcelona Spain this week to kick off its summer season, hosting trade and media onboard.
The fifth ship in the Oasis-class will be sailing seven-night cruise between Barcelona and Roma from May 8.
Wonder of the Seas has the usual Oasis-class innovations – including an actual park – as well as some firsts for the brand. These include eight distinct neighbourhoods, one of which is the Suite Neighbourhood, an area only accessible to those who have booked a Royal Class Suite. The area has a private Suite Sun Deck with plunge pool and bar as well as an exclusive restaurants, Coastal Kitchen; the Suite Lounge and the grandest Ultimate Family Suite yet for a family of 10, complete with an in-suite slide, a cinema and karaoke area, table tennis across two stories.
New dining venues include the Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar, which serves up Southern comfort food for brunch and dinner. At night, the venue will play live country music and serve a collection of whiskeys and Southern cocktails.
For families, there is the Wonder Playscape, an outdoor adventure area where adults and children can play together. It includes slides, climbing walls and interactive features.
The ship includes many of the innovations that have become firm fan favourites, including the FlowRider surf simulator, Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea and a 10-storey high zip line.
Royal Caribbean recently launched a new app for travel agents.
