Uniworld creates Po assets
Uniworld featured ohe World’s Most Scenic Rail Journeys series sailing the river in Italy
Uniworld Boutique River Cruises is encouraging agents to catch up with Channel 5’s new Friday night series The World’s Most Scenic River Journeys to educate themselves and their clients on what different rivers around the world have to offer.
The programme, which is narrated by Bill Nighy and follows the success of The World’s Most Scenic Rail Journeys series, has so far featured Niagara, the Moselle and the river Po.
Uniworld is creating a series of assets including a dedicated mini-brochure and emails highlighting cruises and experiences on rivers relevant to its portfolio, supported by a 30 per cent off Cruise Back Into Travel offer valid across all European cruises until April 30.
The latest episode feature the river Po, Italy’s longest river, which starts in the Cottian Alps and travels through Italy’s north to the Adriatic Sea near Venice. Uniworld‘s Venice and the Gems of Northern Italy itinerary take in the Po on the SS La Venezia – sailing around Venice and its islands including Chioggia and Burano, with a journey down the river to Polesella.
Uniworld‘s new dedicated mini-brochure highlights some of the experiences available on this all-inclusive cruise, such as a private after hours visit to St Mark’s Basilica, a bike ride around Chioggia, a tour of the markets and chocolate shops of Bologna before a pasta making class, or a day in Ferrara.
It will also highlight Uniworld‘s new cruise and rail options such as the 12-day Venice and the Swiss Alps, which combines a four-day luxury train journey on the Golden Eagle Danube Express from Zurich to Venice with the eight-day sailing in the SS La Venezia around the Venice lagoon and the River Po.
A lead in price for this summer is £1,959 (departing June 13) for an all-inclusive seven night cruise with full programmed itinerary staying in luxury accommodation on the SS La Venezia, and with return flights from London Heathrow included.
Chris Townson, managing director of Uniworld Boutique River Cruises in the UK and Ireland said: “We understand that it’s often hard to differentiate between rivers and their offerings, particularly in Europe, and we find that TV series like The World’s Most Scenic River Journeys work wonders in inspiring and educating both agents and their clients about what travellers can expect, from the scenery, towns and villages they’ll experience to the culture and characters they’ll encounter.
“We would encourage all agents to watch it on My5 catch up, and suggest their clients do the same. It’s very enjoyable TV and most importantly, combined with the collateral we’ve produced and the great pricing available, they could just make a sale off the back of it, especially with river cruise bookings booming as confidence returns.”
