Cunard Line has released a video highlighting the work that has gone into its multi-million pound Queen Elizabeth refit.

The work, which included the installation of nine single cabins (pictured), took place in Hamburg across 20 days.

The mammoth job included laying 25,000 square metres of carpet, replacing 3,000 mattresses and adding 1,200 flat screen TVs.

The work was done by 950 contractors at the Blohm+Voss shipyard in what equated to a 265,000 man-hour project.

The single staterooms have been split into eight outdoor and one indoor cabin, located mid-ship and close to the casino, Royal Court Theatre and Queens Room.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be able to present this multi-million pound refurbishment to our existing Cunard guests, who are going to love the changes we’ve made, as well as our new customers who will really enjoy this ship,” said Gerard Tempest Carnival UK’s chief commercial officer.

“We’ve made some fantastic additions, including nine single cabins which is new for Cunard and we’re all really excited about it.”

The single cabins are now on sale and will be available from the 16 December sailing.

Tempest commented: “We’ve retained what everyone loves about Cunard but added some modern touches.”
