The excitement is mounting and avid fans will be glued to their TV’s on Saturday 14 May as the Eurovision Song Contest reaches a crescendo with the 2022 grand final in Turin. Love it or hate it’s hard to ignore and, hey, some people say it’s the best of the best entertainment in Europe. And while we would hate to disagree with them, here at Norwegian Cruise Line we’re pretty sure that the entertainment aboard our eight ships cruising in Europe would give any country a run for its money. The curtain will be rising on spectacular shows across the fleet so a round of applause please as we reveal our own best of the best.
When our latest ship, Norwegian Prima, joins the fleet this summer the entertainment line-up will be headlined by the Tony Award®- nominated Summer: The Donna Summer Musical showcasing the life and legendary songs of disco diva, Donna Summer. It promises to be a spectacular ride through the greatest hits that guests will be singing for the rest of their cruise. And there’s more excitement on board in the Prima Theatre & Club, the only venue in the world that transforms from a three-storey theatre to an incredible Vegas-style nightclub. We’re confident that guests on board Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Getaway will be giving maximum ‘points’ to the swivelling hips, steamy embraces and high-octane tempos of the Burn the Floor, a dance show that’s so hot it sizzles. The most gifted dancers from around the globe have performed in more than 300 cities in 29 countries, so forget just Europe, that’s global acclaim.
Guests can pull up a chair in The Jungle on board Norwegian Escape and feel right at home in this re-creation of an English pub and raise a glass to the Choir of Man. This ultra-talented cast performs everything from classic rock hits to pub tunes and songs that will have everyone singing along and celebrating good times. Max ‘points’ again! Norwegian Dawn, Gem and Jade showcase NCL’s own jaw-dropping production show such as Elements – a visual feast of dance and aerial acrobatics set to a mesmerising soundscape reflecting the four elements earth, air, water and fire – and Blazing Boots. Other incredible evenings at sea are the musicals Kinky Boots on Norwegian Epic and Million Dollar Quartet leading the line-up on Norwegian Getaway.
Just like Eurovision there’s something for everyone come show time and guests are sure to be rooting for their favourite. So let’s add a few more entertainment options into the mix, like cocktails in the piano bar, side-splitting comedy and live music in unique venues like NCL’s recreation of Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club on Norwegian Epic, and Howl at the Moon, the world’s greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Duelling Piano Show.
So, there you have it and now let’s have the votes from the UK travel trade judges for the best entertainment in Europe – Eurovision Song Contest or NCL. Well, it looks like standing ovation for NCL. Not that we’re biased or anything!
