NCL takes delivery of Norwegian Prima
The new vessel will be christened in Iceland later this month and the line is dedicating 10,000 cabins to the trade
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) took delivery of its new ship Norwegian Prima at the Fincantieri shipyard in Venice, Italy on Friday (29 July).
Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line, said: “She is a true testament to our guest first philosophy as well as our commitment to deliver unforgettable experiences that exceed expectations.”
He added that 10,000 cabins on the ship’s inaugural season will be dedicated to the trade “because we are committed to doing everything we can to help them succeed”.
He continued: “The trade will be absolutely vital. The trade community continues to be our single-largest distribution source and we partner with the trade all over the world.”
Norwegian Prima features the Ocean Boulevard, which wraps around the entire deck, the Infinity Beach, which has two infinity pools close to water-level, and the Oceanwalk with two glass bridges over the water.
Later this month, it will become the first major cruise ship christened in Iceland, when it is named by pop star Katy Perry, the ship’s Godmother, before commencing its eight-day inaugural voyage on August 27, sailing from Reykjavík to Amsterdam.
