The Disney Wonder has officially said goodbye to Australia, departing Sydney earlier this month on what marks Disney Cruise Line’s farewell sailing from the region.
On February 2, 2026, the ship set out on a 15-night repositioning voyage bound for Hawaii, closing the chapter on three consecutive winter seasons Down Under.
The sailing is far from a simple transit. Along the way, guests are visiting destinations across the South Pacific, including Noumea in New Caledonia, Suva in Fiji and Pago Pago in American Samoa.
The itinerary also includes a call in Nawiliwili before the cruise concludes in Honolulu. With nine sea days woven into the journey, the voyage offers a relaxed pace as the ship makes its way across the Pacific.
Disney Cruise Line confirmed last year that it would not return to Australia and New Zealand for the 2026-27 season, though it noted that the region remains under consideration for future deployments.
The decision marked the end of a three-season run that saw the Disney Wonder become a familiar sight in ports such as Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
During its final season in the region, the ship offered a series of three- to five-night cruises with calls to destinations including Eden, Hobart, Wellington and Christchurch.
Those shorter itineraries, combined with days at sea, proved popular with families and Disney fans eager to experience the brand closer to home.
After completing the Hawaii repositioning, the Disney Wonder will continue to the U.S. West Coast, where it is scheduled to operate sailings from San Diego between October 2026 and May 2027. These three- to seven-night cruises will visit Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera.
The farewell sailing also comes as Disney Cruise Line continues to outline its plans, including an expanded lineup of European itineraries for summer 2027.
While Disney Wonder departs, Disney Cruise Line is preparing to maintain a presence in the broader region.
The new Disney Adventure, delivered in late 2025, is set to begin year-round sailings from Singapore in mid-March 2026. For now, though, the farewell voyage from Sydney marks the end of an era for Disney cruising in Australia.
