Numarine has appointed Patrik von Sydow as its new CEO.
The move is notable as Patrik von Sydow previously led Numarine from 2010–2012 and most recently served six years as CEO of Turquoise Yachts.
The company calls the appointment symbolic, a returning leader at a time of expansion. While founder, Ömer Malaz, will shift his focus to long-term strategy, partnerships, and brand direction.
Numarine has been scaling its explorer and displacement lines, and demand for 22–45m yachts remains strong in the global yacht markets.
Bringing back an executive with prior Numarine experience should speed up product, production, and international push.
Von Sydow’s recent resume includes six years running Turquoise Yachts, where he oversaw complex projects and high-end builds. He also previously held leadership roles at Christensen, XO, and Nimbus. The yard experience will help with both technical and commercial growth.
In a statement, von Sydow said:
“Numarine has incredible potential and a strong global reputation. I’m excited to help shape its next phase and continue delivering yachts that set the standard in design, engineering and innovation.”
Ömer Malaz framed the hire as a step toward a clearer leadership split. Malaz will concentrate on long-term brand strategy while von Sydow runs operations and growth.
“Patrik brings the leadership and strategic mindset needed for our next chapter,” Malaz said in Numarine’s announcement
Leadership returns look good on paper, but the challenges are real.
Turkey-based yards have improved quality and delivery, but face margin pressure, supply chain complexity, and rising labor/material costs. Those factors can strain fast expansion.
Numarine must also translate increased demand into profitable production without compromising custom build quality, a classic risk when scaling. Industry observers will watch order books, delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction closely.
