Sanlorenzo has officially launched the second yacht in its 49.99 metre 50Steel series, marking another important milestone for the Italian shipyard.
The launch took place at Sanlorenzo’s La Spezia facility and reinforces the strong demand the 50Steel platform has already generated in the global superyacht market.
Following the debut of the first unit, Almax (now renamed Contigo) in summer 2024, the second 50Steel builds on a proven foundation while refining the onboard experience.
The exterior lines come from Zuccon International Project, while Sanlorenzo’s in-house team handled both the naval architecture and interior development, allowing the yard to maintain tight control over performance, layout, and overall design consistency.
Notably, all five yachts currently under construction in the 50Steel series are already sold, highlighting buyer confidence in the platform long before delivery.
Designed for Comfort, Volume and Long-Range Living
While the first 50Steel introduced groundbreaking sustainability features, including a green-methanol reformer fuel cell system, the second unit places added emphasis on comfort and lifestyle for extended cruising.
The technical platform remains the same, but the focus continues to evolve toward creating generous, guest-oriented spaces without exceeding the 500 GT threshold.
Sanlorenzo CEO Tommaso Vincenzi described the 50Steel line as a clear expression of the brand’s innovation strategy, noting that owners are embracing forward-thinking solutions not as experiments, but as a realistic and desirable step forward for modern yachting.
The result is a yacht that balances advanced engineering with the relaxed feel of a long-range private residence at sea.
Smart Engineering Unlocks More Guest Space
One of the defining features of the 50Steel series is Sanlorenzo’s patented Hidden Engine Room system. By redesigning the engine room into a horizontal layout rather than the traditional stacked configuration, the shipyard has freed up valuable space on the lower deck.
This clever redistribution allows for additional guest areas, including a dedicated lounge on the lower deck, while keeping the yacht comfortably below 500 GT. It’s a solution that delivers more liveable space without compromising performance or efficiency.
The launch comes amid continued activity in the Sanlorenzo market, following recent brokerage transactions involving high-profile models such as the SL106 Piacere III.
Looking ahead, Sanlorenzo’s remaining 50Steel yachts are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2029. The shipyard is also preparing for the delivery of its flagship 72-metre 72Steel Silver Fox, expected in 2026, further underlining Sanlorenzo’s growing presence in the large steel superyacht segment.
