World Voyager Marks Five Years with Atlas Ocean Voyages

The expedition ship World Voyager has quietly reached five years since her delivery in November 2020. Built by West Sea Shipyard in Portugal, the 200 guest vessel entered service in April 2021 after an initial pandemic-related layup.

Her maiden voyage was a ten-night Canary Islands sailing from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In the seasons that followed, World Voyager operated itineraries across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Arctic and the Caribbean.

Designed for expedition cruising, World Voyager belongs to a new generation of smaller ships built to access remote destinations. Her size allows for flexible routing while still offering a high level of onboard comfort.

In September 2023, the ship joined Atlas Ocean Voyages, alongside sister vessels World Navigator and World Traveller. The transition marked a shift toward immersive, destination-driven expedition cruising.

Today, World Voyager regularly operates polar itineraries, with voyages to the Arctic and Antarctic Peninsula forming a central part of her programme. These sailings focus on exploration-led experiences supported by expert expedition teams.

Looking ahead, the vessel will continue summer operations for Atlas before entering winter charter service from 2026. She is set to replace World Explorer in Quark Expeditions’ Antarctic programme under a multi-season agreement.

During these voyages, World Voyager will support Quark’s Science & Discovery Program, allowing guests to engage with onboard researchers. Five years on, the ship has established herself as a reliable platform for modern expedition cruising.
