Heritage Expeditions is expanding its Kimberley program with a brand-new adventure cruise designed for travelers who want to go deeper and see more.

The New Zealand-based expedition company has announced an 11-day Kimberley Coast voyage that focuses on rarely visited locations alongside the region’s classic highlights.

Scheduled to depart on July 5, 2027, the new Kimberley Adventure Cruise will sail round-trip from Darwin aboard the 140-guest Heritage Adventurer.

For early planners, the sailing is currently available with a 20 percent saving on all berths for bookings made before February 27, 2026.

A Journey Beyond the Usual Kimberley Route

What sets this new itinerary apart is its focus on lesser-known corners of the Kimberley Coast.

In addition to iconic landscapes, the voyage introduces guests to remote places such as Osborn Island, Boongaree Island, and the intriguingly named Lucifer’s Labyrinth. These areas are rarely visited and offer a quieter, more intimate experience of the region’s raw beauty.

Guests can expect dramatic red cliffs, secluded coves, ancient rock art galleries, and stretches of untouched white-sand beaches.

Wildlife encounters and insights into Indigenous culture and traditions are also central to the experience.

Heritage Expeditions says the goal is to showcase the Kimberley in a way that feels immersive rather than rushed.

Expedition-Style Cruising with Limited Guests

The voyage will be led by experienced expedition guides, including company expedition leader and commercial director Aaron Russ.

He says the new sailing reflects the company’s passion for exploring waters that even seasoned Kimberley travelers may not have seen.

The Kimberley Adventure Cruise joins an existing 11-day Kimberley Explorer itinerary, which departs July 15, 2027, sailing one-way from Darwin to Broome. Both voyages form part of Heritage Expeditions’ First Wave 2027–28 Season Sale.

Founded in 1984, Heritage Expeditions operates two expedition ships, offering voyages that range from four to 28 days.

With small guest numbers and a strong focus on discovery, the company continues to attract travelers looking for meaningful, off-the-beaten-path experiences.
