Aurora Expeditions appoints new CEO

Aurora Expeditions has announced the appointment of Robert Halfpenny as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Halfpenny brings over 25 years of travel industry experience to the position having previously held senior roles with Globus, Virgin Australia, the Travel Corporation and, most recently, Rocky Mountaineer.

“I look forward to entering the fast-growing expedition cruising sector and am very much looking forward to leading Aurora Expeditions’ team into a new phase of growth and development” he said.

“It is a great privilege to be given the chance to lead Australia’s pioneering polar expedition cruise company and I can’t wait to continue the company’s legacy to explore and discover some of the most unspoilt and remote corners of our planet.”

Halfpenny will start his new position on February 1, 2017.

The appointment follows the resignation of previous CEO Lisa Bolton in September last year.
