Disney Cruise Line unveiled more details of its new ship at the recent D23 Expo fan event.

The new vessel will be named Disney Treasure. It is due to launch in 2024 and will be the second of the line’s three Wish-class ships.

The vessels are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and feature 1,254 staterooms. The first of the class – Disney Wish – was launched in July this year. The third and final ship will be delivered in 2025.

Disney Treasure is being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and, according to Disney, will celebrate “Walt Disney’s lifelong love of exploration”.

Disney parks, experiences and products chairman Josh D’Amaro said: “At the heart of every adventure, there’s a treasure, and we can’t wait for you to create memories aboard this spectacular ship.”

He also revealed that work had started on Lighthouse Point, a new island destination in the Bahamas.

Disney is working closely with Bahamian artists and advisers to create “a destination that represents the natural beauty and rich culture of the Bahamas, brought to life through Disney storytelling”.
