DYDXL Reveals Hoia100 Explorer Yacht Concept by Franco Gnessi Studio

Italian design firm Franco Gnessi Studio has unveiled a new explorer yacht concept called Hoia100, created for owners who want to travel farther and spend meaningful time at sea. The concept focuses on practical cruising rather than visual excess.

Hoia100 has been revealed as a 30.5-metre explorer yacht concept, designed to support long-range journeys and extended stays on board. Instead of following current styling trends, the project puts reliability, comfort and usability at the centre of the design.

The exterior is strong and understated, with clean lines and a balanced profile. High sides and well-protected decks give the yacht a confident, capable look that feels suited to open-ocean cruising.

Outdoor living plays an important role in the layout. Wide decks, shaded seating areas and open terraces are designed to keep guests close to the sea, whether the yacht is underway or anchored.

At the aft, the deck is planned as a flexible space that can adapt to different uses. It can function as a relaxed social area or be configured to support exploration equipment and activities.

Inside, the concept avoids anything overly decorative or formal. The interiors are imagined as calm, comfortable spaces that feel easy to live in during long periods on board.

Large windows are used throughout to bring in natural light and maintain a strong connection with the surroundings. The aim is to keep the interior open and welcoming without losing warmth.

In terms of performance, Hoia100 is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system designed to improve efficiency and flexibility. The setup combines twin Volvo IPS40 engines with three Volvo D13 generators.

This configuration gives the yacht an estimated range of around 5,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, making her well-suited for long-distance cruising and remote exploration without frequent refuelling.

While Hoia100 is not fully electric, the diesel-electric system allows the yacht to operate in electric-only mode for short periods. This enables up to 30 minutes of quiet, low-emission movement, ideal for entering anchorages or navigating sensitive areas.

Crew spaces are also carefully planned, recognising how important comfort and efficiency are during extended voyages. A well-supported crew is essential for successful long-range cruising.

Sustainability is part of the overall thinking behind Hoia100, with the design allowing for energy-efficient systems without compromising capability.

Hoia100 reflects a growing shift toward yachts that are about experience rather than excess. More owners are looking for freedom, range and purpose in the way they travel.

With this concept, Franco Gnessi Studio presents a thoughtful vision of exploration, where the journey itself is the true luxury.

In a separate development, Oceanco released 80-metre Project Y729, marking another milestone in the shipyard’s growing Simply Custom portfolio.
