MSC announces new recruits and promotions

MSC Cruises UK & Ireland has announced various appointments and internal promotions.

Following the recent promotion of Laura Montalban to national account manager, the cruise line has appointed David Broad as regional sales manager covering Central England.

Broad will join the company on May 29 from JTA Travel where he held the position of regional sales manager for the Central Region & South West representing its cruise offering; he previously worked at Cruise.co.uk as a personal homeworker.

He will report to Andrea Stafford the company’s head of retail and will bring the number of regional sales managers to eight.

Meanwhile, it has promoted Rebecca Kelly to the role of head of sales for the Republic of Ireland from her previous position as national account manager of Ireland. In addition, it has announced the appointment of Alana Byrne to the newly created position of a second regional sales manager to expand the existing team to three. Byrne joins MSC Ireland from Newbridge Travel and brings travel and cruise experience with her. Her role begins on May 5 onboard MSC Meraviglia when the ship calls into Dublin and Cobh.

The company said it regards the Irish market as instrumental to its long term growth strategy.

MSC Meraviglia will make its maiden call into the ports of Invergordon, Greenock, Dublin and Cobh, and around the UK & Ireland over the coming days. More than 400 agents plus guests will be onboard across the visits. Meraviglia is the world’s fifth largest cruise ship at 172,000 GRT and has the capacity for 5700 guests, spanning 19 decks.
