Quark adds healthy ship to Antarctica fleet

Polar voyage specialist Quark Expeditions is adding a third vessel to its fleet of Antarctica-based ships.

The 199-passenger Ocean Endeavour will replace the company’s Sea Spirit for the upcoming 2015/16 season and complete 12 voyages to Antarctica, the Falklands and South Georgia from November 2015.

The ship is also being heralded as the only Antarctica-based vessel to focus on healthy living. The vessel will serve healthy meals, host yoga classes and massage therapy sessions onboard.

“All our expeditions offer intimate, life-enriching voyages to rare and remote destinations, and now with Ocean Endeavour travellers can experience Antarctica in an overall envelope of wellness that will complement their adventure and feed their mind, body and soul,” said Hans Lagerweij, president of Quark Expeditions.

The line will also make a number of its cabins available to single travellers – with no single supplement to pay.

Lagerweij added: “Endeavour will feature a broad-based approach to health and wellness as part of the onboard experience, from the food to the activities in addition to providing the same incomparable expedition experience that makes Quark the leader in Polar adventures.

“It will be part of the overall experience of unplugging from the world and immersing yourself in this pristine wilderness.”

An 11-day Antarctic Explorer voyage begins at £3,400 per person for triple accommodation.

Guests who book before November 15 2014 will save 25% off their healthy cruise.
