Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Splendor made a festive call at the Brazilian port of Rio Grande on Christmas Eve, bringing a holiday atmosphere to the city.

The visit stood out as a special moment for both guests and locals, with the luxury ship arriving during one of the most celebrated days of the year.

Warm Welcome and Local Impact

Local authorities said the 2020-built vessel brought more than 600 passengers to Rio Grande, located in Brazil’s southern state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Passengers were greeted with cultural performances, a local craft fair and support from tourist guides, offering a welcoming introduction to the region.

Port operator Portos RS said the call helps strengthen Rio Grande’s position as a cruise destination between Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.

Officials noted that each international cruise visit supports tourism, creates local economic activity and increases visibility for the port city. Portos RS President Cristiano Klinger highlighted the port’s strategic location along Brazil’s southern coast.

He added that the Rio Grande plays an important role for ships sailing between major South American cruise markets. According to Sandro Oliveira, director of international relations at Portos RS, the visit reflects growing confidence in the port’s cruise operations.

He said regular calls help position the state more strongly in international tourism and maritime routes.

Part of a South American Holiday Sailing

Seven Seas Splendor is currently sailing in South America as part of its winter season in the region.

The ship departed Rio de Janeiro on December 11, 2025, for an 11-night cruise scheduled to end in Buenos Aires on December 28. In addition to Rio Grande, the itinerary includes Brazilian destinations such as Santos, Ilha Grande, Ilhabela and Porto Belo.

The voyage also features stops in Uruguay, including Punta del Este and Montevideo. Following its holiday cruise, Seven Seas Splendor is set to continue exploring the region.

Upcoming itineraries include sailings to Chile, Patagonia and the Amazon, further expanding Regent’s presence in South America.
