Three for Tuesday: cruises in the sun for families
There is no holiday better suited to a family than a cruise. The reason? The versatility and choice that is on offer.
One parent is luxuriating in the spa, the other is propping up the bar, all while the children are in the kids’ club having the time of their lives. Take a look at some of the cruises we have put forward for those sun-seeking families in 2015.
Following on from the publication of Cruise Adviser’s Ex-UK 2015 guide, each week we will be running our Three for Tuesday feature, which gives you a trio of cruise options to choose from. This week it’s ex-UK trips for families after a bit of sunshine.
Cruise Adviser’s River guide is out now. To request a copy email: info@cruise-adviser.com or click here to read the digital version. Our family guide is out in May.
The Mediterranean
Line: Royal Caribbean
Departure port: Southampton
Departure date: June 20, 2015
Destination: Mediterranean
Duration: 14 nights
Ship: Anthem of the Seas
Price: Ocean view cabin from £6,432 for four guests
Sail with Royal Caribbean International on its brand new vessel, Anthem of the Seas. The ship has everything from robotic barmen, to bumper
cars and a huge viewing platform 300ft above sea level. There is so much to do on this new ship that you won’t want to get off, even as you sail through some of the gems of the Mediterranean.
The Norwegian fjords
Line: Celebrity Cruises
Departure port: Southampton
Departure date: August 22, 2015
Destination: Norwegian fjords
Duration: Eight nights
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse
Price: Ocean view cabin from £5,050 for four guests
A Norwegian fjords cruise might not seem like the first choice for families but anyone who has seen Disney’s Frozen will instantly correct you. Especially when you reveal that you will be visiting Bergen, one of the cities that inspired the film.
Taking a cruise during August to the fjords is a great experience; and the dramatic landscape is something best appreciated by sea. There are far worse ways to do it than onboard the award-winning Celebrity Eclipse too.
The Baltic
Line: Disney Cruise Line
Departure port: Dover
Departure date: July 22, 2015
Destination: Baltic
Duration: 12 nights
Ship: Disney Magic
Price: Ocean view cabin from £11,797 for four guests
Disney Cruise Line is offering a limited number of ex-UK sailings in 2015, with this July voyage being one of only two. Departing on July 22, with Goofy, Mickey and Minnie in tow, this sailing is guaranteed to be one that is remembered by the entire family.
It’s worth mentioning that while a Disney Cruise Line holiday will either fill you with dread or sound like the best thing in the world, the operator does have ample amounts of ‘adults only’ restaurants, bars and pools – so the Magic Kingdom has something for everyone.
