Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has launched its first family brochure, covering 2016 departures on the Rhine, Danube, Seine and Po rivers.
The new brochure highlights the river sectors growing interest in the family market, with more and more parents and grandparents investigating the possibility of getting children on board.
Uniworld has more than tripled the number of family-friendly cruise departures for its 2016 programme, from five to sixteen.
Kathryn Beadle, managing director of Uniworld UK, said: “A river cruise is a great way to give younger generations an insight into different cultures as they travel to new cities, quaint villages and traditional towns on a truly memorable holiday. All age groups can enjoy the leisurely pace of a Uniworld river cruise and enjoy the variety of onboard entertainment and onshore excursions which have been specially designed with families in mind.”
Uniworld’s nine European family-friendly departures feature fun and interactive onboard experiences. Youngsters are able to make desserts with the ship’s pastry chef and take a behind the scenes tour with the captain himself. There will also be the opportunity to taste local soft drinks with the on board soda sommelier and take language lessons.
The Young Travellers Lounge, available on all multigenerational Uniworld ships, is complete with a PlayStation, movies and jars of sweets. Every family-friendly cruise itinerary also features onboard visits from local children or teens to explain more about their life and culture.
There is also a babysitting service available for children between 4-11 and 12-18. Children aged four to 18 will cruise half price.
A sample itinerary includes the 10-day Delightful Danube & Prague and Danube Discovery & Prague itineraries, which include water rafting and bicycle rides. Itineraries on the Po river include gladiator school and a ghost walk of Venice.
Kids aged 4 years – 18 years will cruise for half-price (excluding port charges).
