Princess accelerates departure of Star and Golden Princess

Two ships to leave fleet for P&O; Australia

has confirmed that two of its ships, Golden Princess and Star Princess, have been transferred to P&O Australia. The move, which was first announced in 2018, has been accelerated.

“Golden Princess and Star Princess have sailed all over the world, creating lifelong memories for the millions of guests who sailed upon these beloved cruise ships,” said Jan Swartz, president. “We know their wonderful legacy will continue under sister brand P&O Cruises Australia, which has become so well-known for delivering unforgettable cruise holidays for Aussies and Kiwis to some of the most idyllic destinations in the South Pacific.”

Golden Princess joined the fleet in May 2001 while Star Princess joined in January 2002.

One of the biggest innovations that the ships carried was the ability to dine where, when and with whom they wished, an industry first at the time called Personal Choice Cruising. Passengers could choose between Anytime Dining and Traditional Dining, where they would be given a fixed time and table.

Guests or travel agents with bookings on either ship will be notified by the company, with information on how to rebook.
