AmaWaterways to launch golf product

AmaWaterways is to launch a golfing programme in partnership with LGT Golf as part of its drive to increase more active river cruises.

The company will run a 10-night package on the Danube, to launch in April 2017. The package will include a seven-night AmaWaterways river cruise, three nights in Prague and a pass to play on a Championship golf course in five countries.

The courses include: the  Albatross Golf Centre, Prague (Host of the Czech Open); Bad Griesbach, Germany, (Host of the Porsche European Open); Diamond Course, Atzenbrugg, Austria (Host of the Lyoness Austrian Open); Legends Course, Senica, Slovakia (Host of the Slovakian Open); and the Pannonia Country Club, Budapest, Hungary (Host of the Hungarian Open).

There are no minimum numbers required and the golf package is available on every Danube sailing in 2017.

Nicholas Boekdrukker, managing director of LGT Golf, added: “I have based the selection criteria on the same aspects that I would want for my own holiday, selecting golf courses that have hosted a European Tour, Ladies European Tour, Challenge Tour or Seniors Tour tournament. This is because I know the stringent quality criteria that the respective tours demand of a golf course.

“Everything will have been arranged in advance for the guests – their tee time, practice balls for their warm up and pull trolleys. After their round, they will enjoy lunch in the clubhouse while their clubs are cleaned by our staff. We then return the guests to their river cruise ship by private transportation – even if the ship has moved on to its next stop”
