MSC wins at the Silver Travel Advisor awards
Mediterranean cruise line MSC has taken home the best cruise line at the Silver Travel Advisor awards.
The prize, which was awarded to the cruise line best suited to the over 50s, was given to MSC over other lines including Fred. Olsen, P&O, Celebrity and Cunard.
Silver Travel Advisor managing director Debbie Marshall said “The Awards have been voted by the over 50s and for the over 50s. They are a tribute to the companies, individuals and destinations who have recognised the needs and wishes of the older traveller and who have taken steps to make their travels and holidays even more enjoyable. The winners have made an exceptional effort to meet those needs and have been recognised accordingly.”
Speaking to Cruise Adviser Giles Hawke, executive director of MSC Cruises said: “This is a major accolade! We are surprised and delighted to win it and the fact that it is voted for solely by the ‘Silver Travellers’ makes it even more special.”
Other winners on the night included Thomson Holidays (best tour operator), Warner Leisure Hotels (best limited mobility and best hotel) and British Airlines (best airline).
Great Rail Journeys (best rail holiday provider) and Center Parcs (best self catering accommodation) also took home gongs.
The winner of the exceptional achievement award was Paul Bennett of Grand UK, escorted touring specialists dedicated to the over 55s, of whom the panel of senior travel industry judges said: “Paul’s story is inspirational. From humble beginnings, the business has grown and remained true to the sector, with a focus on service and product delivery, and established an enviable reputation with some great innovations. He has a strong team ethic with huge loyalty generated from his staff”
