New MSC ship to be named MSC Seaside

MSC Cruises has revealed that its new generation of ships are to be known as ‘Seaside class’ while its next ship will be the MSC Seaside.

The vessel, which will sail year-round from Miami will debut in November 2017.

“The Seaside class of ships is part of MSC Cruises’ €5.1 billion fleet expansion plan that will allow the company to double its capacity by 2022,” said Gianni Onorato, MSC Cruises chief executive. “Today is a very exciting day for the company as this is the first major announcement related to the company’s new builds. It demonstrates our enthusiasm and long-term commitment to continuing to expand our presence in North America.”

“MSC Cruises has the unique opportunity to provide guests with a Mediterranean-style cruise experience that no other line is able to offer as it sails to the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean.”

“Since bringing MSC Divina to Miami in November 2013 we’ve seen significant demand from consumers, excellent support from our travel agent partners and a growing need for additional MSC Cruises ships in the region.”

The Seaside class ships will carry 4,140 passengers at full capacity. While the first one will be delivered towards the end of 2017, a second is slated to launch in 2018. There is an option for one more, which would be delivered in 2021.
