P&O reveals details for new ship Iona

P&O Cruises has revealed some of the features that will be on board its new ship, Iona, including more details on entertainment and dining.

The ship, which will be launched in 2020, will feature a Grand Atrium offering uninterrupted views of the sea. The feature has been designed by the firm behind the W Hotel in London and the Aqua Shard restaurant.

Iona will offer 30 different dining options including Freedom Dining for the first time in its main restaurants. Speciality restaurants including Sindhu, Brodie’s, the Glass House and the Epicurean will all be onboard.

P&O Cruises senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “Iona will bring new innovations and choice for our guests, but will also celebrate the best of P&O Cruises dining and drinking traditions. From intimate meals for two, to gatherings of friends and family, each day of a holiday on Iona will deliver an exciting journey of discovery through our widest ever selection of restaurants.”

For entertainment, the ship will be fitted out with a ‘SkyDome’ – a new space on deck 16 and 17 that will have a pool, stage and cinema. The new entertainment venue will also be a nightclub and host aerial shows during the evening.

The cinema, Ocean Studios, will have four screens playing classic and new films all day.

Ludlow added: “The SkyDome will be a magical venue with views of the ocean by day and starry skies at night. It will be an exciting home to aerial performers who will make the most of the amazing space as well as guest DJs and current performers setting the tone for memorable evenings of music and dancing under the sparkling glass dome.”

Iona will go on sale in September.
