Silversea orders new ship
Ultra luxury cruise line Silversea is to launch a new vessel in spring 2017.
Silver Muse will be capable of carrying 596 passengers and be built by Italian shipyard Fincatieri.
Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, chairman of Silversea, said: “We have always had a special relationship with Fincantieri, since my father ordered from them the first cruise vessels for Sitmar Cruises in 1987.
“Both companies have a clear understanding of what today’s affluent traveller seeks, and each approaches the market with originality, creativity, and quality. The management team led by Giuseppe Bono has been exceptional in managing Silversea’s project.”
According to Silversea, the design of Silver Muse is “an evolution” of that used for Silver Spirit.
Launched in 2009, Silver Spirit is slightly smaller than Silver Muse will be. The 540-passenger ship’s cabins nearly all have balconies, and Silver Spirit also has a supper club-style specialty restaurant offering gourmet cuisine and jazz in an intimate, club-like setting. Specific details concerning Silver Muse’s design have yet to be released, according to Cruise Critic.
Enzo Visone, chief executive of Silversea, added: “With enhanced design specifications and enriched content, the Silver Muse will continue to build on the sophistication, innovative style and ground-breaking concepts for which Silversea ships are renowned.
“This ship contributes to our ambitious growth plans that will ensure our continued leadership in ultra-luxury cruising.”
Silver Muse will be Silversea’s ninth vessel.
