Viking triumphs at the Food
& Travel awards
Viking River Cruises has once again tasted success at the Food & Travel reader awards – by winning Cruise Line of the Year for the third year running.
The company also took home the River Cruise Line of the Year award, repeating the achievements of 2012 and 2013, at the ceremony on 1 September.
Held at the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park, London, the bash brought together big names from across the food and travel industries, with Viking running out overall winners.
Hebridean Island Cruises won Cruise Line of the Year (Adventure), while Celebrity Cruises took home the Ocean category award. The full list of the winners can be seen here.
Wendy Atkin-Smith, managing director at Viking River Cruises UK said: “To have been awarded such a high accolade by the readers of Food & Travel Magazine for a third year running is a fantastic achievement for Viking.
“Our highly trained onboard chefs focus on quality food and regional specialities, as well as preparing fresh meals to order to ensure we always provide excellent cuisine for our guests.”
Next year will see the launch of the “state of the art” Viking Star, Viking’s first ocean-bound vessel. The vessel will host 930 guests on itineraries that start from Scandinavia and the Baltic through to the western and eastern Mediterranean.
